Some speakers are built to disappear into a room. The Emotiva Nostala LB12 is not one of them. This is a proper full-size loudspeaker pair for customers who want music and movie sound to feel bigger, warmer and more physical, while still keeping the finish elegant enough for a premium living room.
The LB12 has a classic walnut cabinet style, but the design is not old-fashioned inside. Each speaker uses a 3-way driver layout with a silk-dome tweeter, a dedicated hybrid-dome midrange and a 12-inch woofer, giving it the kind of scale that smaller speakers usually cannot produce on their own. It is the type of speaker you choose when vocals need body, drums need weight, and a stereo image needs to fill the front of the room instead of sounding boxed in.
Ideal for
This pair makes sense for serious two-channel listening rooms, large lounges, vinyl and hi-fi setups, and home cinema systems where the front left and right channels need real authority. It is also a strong option if you want one speaker pair that can handle both music and movies without immediately depending on a subwoofer for every bit of low-end presence.
For best results, pair the LB12 with a capable integrated amplifier, AV receiver or power amplifier. Emotiva recommends 100W or more, and that is sensible for a speaker of this size. The 91 dB efficiency and 8-ohm nominal impedance make it friendly enough for many quality amplifiers, but it will reward better amplification with cleaner control and more confident bass.
Room and setup notes
The LB12 is a substantial floorstanding speaker, so give it breathing space. The dual rear ports mean it should not be pushed tightly against the wall if you want the bass to stay controlled. In a medium to large room, place the speakers slightly forward from the wall, angle them gently toward the listening position, and leave enough distance between them for a wide centre image.
The genuine walnut veneer gives every cabinet its own natural grain pattern, so the pair has a furniture-like feel rather than a plain black-box look. Emotiva also includes magnetic fabric grilles in beige and neutral grey, which helps if you want the speakers to blend into a lighter or darker room.

The LB12 is rated at 40 Hz to 32 kHz (+3/-3 dB), with 150W continuous and 350W peak power handling. The crossover points are 200 Hz between the woofer and midrange, and 2 kHz between the midrange and tweeter. Each speaker includes dual 5-way terminals, so bi-wiring or bi-amping is possible if your system is built for it.
Each speaker measures approximately 30 inches high, 15.5 inches wide and 14.5 inches deep before adding the permanently attached feet. Weight is approximately 71 lb per speaker unboxed, so these should be treated as a proper furniture-grade speaker pair when planning delivery and placement.
